The photo of an alleged UFO in Chile has left more than one viewer startled after that country’s Comité de Estudios de Fenómenos Aéreos Anomalos (CEFAA) confirmed its authenticity according to Ricardo Francino Saldivia.
The image was taken in the area known as El Yeso Reservoir by a Venezuelan couple living in the southern country. The image was investigated by CEFFA through its director general, Gen. Ricardo Bermudez (Ret.).
“After considerable research time we reached a series of conclusions that are the same obtained in the United States, and which are: this photograph is real and not a hoax; Second, that the incidence of the light in these clouds is the same as that which falls upon the object; Third, that it has its own light, and therefore a series of portholes are visible. This is according to our Ph.D in meteorology, and according to the clouds existing at the time during that season in the Cordillera, makes it twice the size of the National Stadium (in Chile),” he told Terra Chile.

Ricardo Bermúdez , director of the Committee Study of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena ( CEFAA) the UFO at El Yeso reservoir “After years of research we came to some conclusions that are the same as made in USA and those are that: This photograph is true, it is no trick, and second , that the incidence of light seen in the clouds is the same as being given off by the object and third, is that it has its own light, and therefore a kind observed windows . That’s according to our doctor in meteorology, and under existing clouds in place at that time in the mountains, is twice the size of the National Stadium, “said still shocked to speak of “The Clam” as they amicably call it.
The photograph came to CEFAA from CIFAE, a citizen’s research group, through Erick Martinez and then was investigated by CEFAA. The photograph was taken by a Venezuelan couple living in Chile. They were in the El Yeso reservoir and were taking pictures of clouds when they realized that they were seeing something inexplicable.
“We do not know what it is or where it came from, but the anomalous aerial phenomenon described as an unidentified flying object is real and we have the proof and the eyewitness accounts to support it,” notes Bermudez, who was a military pilot for the Chilean Air Force, flying F-5 fighters among other craft.

In late March 1997, observers from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of Chacalluta Arica, witnessed the appearance of anomalous aerial phenomena for two consecutive nights, a fact which aroused great curiosity in public opinion and the media.
This report by military and commercial pilots, who previously had reported the intrusion of light phenomena in their flight path could not be explained by respective air traffic or flight in the sector.
Given the turmoil caused by such observations and subsequent official press release that the DGAC broadcast, acknowledging the veracity of the reports made in Arica, the aviation authority said the needed to create within itself an organization that would collect details of the observations that were taking place in Chile.
The Committee for the Study of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena, CEFAA was created in 1997 and tasked with investigating UFO incidents with help of the Aeronautical Technical School (ETA), an organization that later, on January 1, 2010 moved under control of the General Secretariat of the DGAC.
