Ancient Unexplained Writings Found in USA Shocks Historians

Were ancient people travelling the oceans to America thousands of years before history tells us? Was the United States discovered thousands of years before Columbus did? These are questions that intrigue all of us and the answers are not as simple as yes or no. Archaeologists and historians have given us a pretty good picture of life in the United States before Columbus’s big discovery but there have also been objects and inscriptions found that point to ancient people being in America thousands of years before it too. Below are some of the most baffling objects found with inscriptions that point to America being discovered way before Columbus:

Hebrew Inscription Stones and Objects:

The Keystone

Discovered in June 1860 at the Newark Earthworks in Ohio by David Wyrick. The stone is named a keystone because of its general shape but the corners are rounded so it was not used as a keystone. Most archaeologists think the knob at the end was held in the right hand and then was turned to read the inscriptions on all four sides in succession. Estimates of its age is anywhere from 100BC-500AD. The stone has four inscriptions (one on each side) that are written in an ancient Hebrew script. The four sides translate as follows:

· Qedosh Qedoshim, "Holy of Holies"

· Melek Eretz, "King of the Earth"

· Torath YHWH, "The Law of God"

· Devor YHWH, "The Word of God"

The Decalogue

Discovered in November 1860 about ten miles South of the Newark Earthworks in Ohio by David Wyrick. The stone is inscribed on all sides with a shortened version of the Ten Commandments or Decalogue written in ancient Hebrew. There is also a robed bearded figure on the front of the stone who is identified as Moses with his name carved right over his head. Estimates of its age is anywhere from 100BC-500AD.

Bat Creek Inscription Stone

Discovered in 1889 at a Native American burial mound near Bat Creek by John Emmert of the Smithsonian Institute. The stone has been controversial since its discovery and no definitive answers have been reached yet. Some archaeologists see the inscription as a Cherokee alphabet, others see it as Paleo-Hebrew one and others feel it is just a fraud. Most feel the inscription matches an ancient Masonic one and translates as “Holy To Yahweh”.
Los Lunas Stone

Discovered in 1933 officially but mentions of the discovery go back to the 1880’s. The discovery is actually a large stone on the side of Hidden Mountain in New Mexico near Los Lunas. The stone has an abridged version of the Ten Commandments or Decalogue written in ancient paleo-Hebrew script. The stone is very controversial since some see it as modern fake while others think that it shows proof of early Semitic travel to America.
Other Inscription Objects and Stones

Pemberton Wedge

Discovered in 1859 by J.W.C. Evans near Pemberton, New Jersey, the object is an ancient wedge shaped sandstone axe head that has a ten character inscription on it. In 1861, Archaeologist James Whittall was able to translate the characters as “Stand firm, on guard, parry, close in and strike”. The language was actually ancient Iberian which was used by the Neolithic tribes 3500-4000 years ago in Portugal and Spain. Could these ancient sailors been blown off course and sailed all the way to America. Currently the objects whereabouts are unknown. No Image available.
Kensington Rune Stone

Discovered in 1898 by Olof Ohman near Kensington, Minnesota underneath a large tree that was being uprooted. The large stone is a 200 pound piece of greywacke that is covered with ancient Scandinavian runes on its face and side. The stone is hugely controversial with most seeing it as a fake but recent research into the stone is actually showing it to be ancient in origin with the inscription. There have also been other ancient findings in the area including three boulders with triangular holes which are exactly the same as used by Viking ships in Norway during the 14th century. The translation of the runes reads as follows:

“Eight Götalanders and 22 Northmen on (this?) acquisition journey from Vinland far to the west. We had a camp by two (shelters?) one day's journey north from this stone. We were fishing one day. After we came home, found 10 men red from blood and dead. Ave Maria save from evil. There are 10 men by the inland sea to look after our ships fourteen days journey from this peninsula (or island). Year 1362”.
Grave Creek Stone

Discovered in Moundsville, West Virgina in 1838 by Abelard Tomlinson, the object is a small sandstone disc with 25 characters on it. The inscription contains numerous different characters from various ancient languages and its whereabouts is currently unknown. The Smithsonian Institute does currently have 4 casts of the original disc with the complete inscription on them but there has never been a satisfactory translation of the characters yet.
Judaculla Stone

This is a large sandstone boulder located near Sylva, North Carolina that has strange markings and symbols carved into it. The markings resemble stick figures, curling circles and thousands of pockmarks. Modern archaeologists estimate the rock was carved anywhere from 2-3,000 years ago by Native Americans but local Cherokee legends say the carvings are from the mythical Indian figure Judaculla who ruled the Basalm Mountains. This figure had magical weapons and objects and was said to have carved the stone in one night. Could this be a reference to an advanced culture that some believe lived in the area?

So did ancient people really travel to America hundreds or thousands of years before Columbus? Are these objects evidence of their time spent here and are there more discoveries waiting to be unearthed? Decide for yourself but make sure to stay tuned.....
